Software Update: Pedestrian Dynamics 4.6

We are excited to announce the release of Pedestrian Dynamics® 4.6, the latest evolution of our advanced crowd simulation and Digital Twin software. As a leading innovator in simulation technology, InControl Enterprise Dynamics continues to advance solutions that support the growing needs of our users. This release optimizes user-friendliness, extends modeling capabilities, and offers greater control over complex simulation scenarios.

Key Enhancements in Pedestrian Dynamics® 4.6

1. Expanded and More Inclusive Character Visualization

Pedestrian Dynamics® 4.6 introduces a broader and more diverse set of characters that better reflects real-world populations.

  • Characters now load significantly faster.

  • Agent profiles can filter based on attributes such as gender and ethnicity, or users can define custom selections to determine which characters appear in a simulation.

This enhancement supports more realistic and representative modeling of crowd dynamics.

2. Improved Modeling Control with the Enhanced User Events Tool

The updated User Events tool provides more flexibility and precision when controlling simulation behavior.

  • Create events with their own time schedules.

  • Trigger events programmatically through function calls, including optional delays.

  • Use time schedules to execute recurring actions — such as writing output data every 10 seconds.

  • Easily model real-life repetitive scenarios such as pedestrian traffic light cycles.

3. Expanded Elevator Functionality

The elevator object now supports variable capacity, enabling more realistic modeling of vertical transportation.

  • Elevator capacity is now determined by the new weight attribute on agent profiles.

  • For example, an agent in a wheelchair can be assigned a weight equivalent to two standard agents.

  • This allows elevator behavior to adapt to diverse passenger types and improve simulation accuracy.

4. New Licensing Framework

With Pedestrian Dynamics 4.6 release we replace CodeMeter with the LicenseSpring licensing framework. This licensing framework alows you to easily manage your own licenses. For example, you can deactivate and move a license to a new machine without requiered support from InControl. With this new framework it is possible to create cloud floating license.

Besides a Pedestrian Dynamics Developer we also offer a free of charge Home Edition. The Home Edition is for personal, non-commercial use only.

Pedestrian Dynamics Home Edition

  • Allows you to run models limited to generated max 5.000 agents.
  • Allows you to build models with a maximum of 4 height layers.
  • Does not allow access to Atom Editor a tool for developers.
